When visiting a new place one is never quite sure where to stay, and like any city in the US, New Orleans has plenty of chain hotels ranging from the ‘by the hour’ to the more upscale establishments. The French Quarter offers a wide range of nice hotels. We’ve compiled a very short list of hotels we like based on personal experience in regard to amenities, location, and rates.
Hotel Provincial

Created out of a series of buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, with parts that once housed a Confederate Military Hospital, Hotel Provincial is one of our favorites. Moderately priced and in the heart of the Quarter, this is old world New Orleans with modern convenience. The quiet courtyards with lush vegetation and attractive water features are hidden away from street traffic. Situated on Rue Chartres, near the French Market, it’s an easy walk to most of the sites listed in this guide.
La Quinta Inn can be a reasonable lodging alternative. This location, situated between Canal and Poydras Streets, is in the Central Business District. From here it’s a longer walk to the French Quarter, yet still a decent location for the price. The New Orleans Super Dome is nearby as are our recommended restaurants in the CBD.
