My Gulf: Live Jazz on Frenchman Street from FILMMASON on Vimeo.
Frenchmen Street in Faubourg Marigny, named for a group of French men in Spanish New Orleans who led an uprising to oust Spanish governor, Don Antonio de Ulloa, is a music mecca. Frenchmen Street is best known for its many clubs and cafes which provide a stage for local musicians, some known only in the community and some with a national or international following. On any given night on Frenchmen Street, you might see a live performance by Ellis Marsalis, T-Bone Shorty, Kermit Ruffins, or Charmaine Neville. For more information on venues and performers, visit the Frenchmen Street Website.
